Canada names squad for Vegas and Vancouver

Damian McGrath has selected his strongest possible squad to take part in the fast-approaching North American leg of the HSBC Sevens Series. The Las Vegas and Vancouver tournaments are the fifth and sixth stops, respectively, on the 2017-18 circuit and double as seeding qualifiers for the 2018 Rugby World Cup Sevens in San Francisco.

Injuries have ruled out Phil Berna, Matt Mullins, Lucas Hammond, and Liam Underwood, but there is some good news with the returns of Mike Fuailefau and Connor Braid. Also recovered from a broken arm is Andrew Coe who is set to make his HSBC Sevens Series debut.

Harry Jones continues as captain with usual suspects Nathan Hirayama and John Moonlight able deputies. Also included is CFL convert Tevaughn Campbell, who scored his first ever Series try in Hamilton.

The three-day Las Vegas tournament kicks off on March 2. Canada has been drawn in Pool B along with England, Wales, and overall leaders South Africa.
