Franco Sábato ruled out of Las Vegas and Vancouver 7s

Los Pumas 7’s have been dealt a major blow. Franco Sábato has been ruled out of the Las Vegas and Vancouver 7’s tournaments. The loss of Sábato adds to a growing injury list with Fernando Luna also missing out.

Sábato is out through a shoulder injury. His place on the roster has gone to Tomás Passaro, a new comer to Los Pumas 7’s. Standing in a 2.02 meters tall his size may well be a talking point in North America.

Luna and Passaro are the two overall changes to the roster that has competed in the two rounds played in 2018 thus far, the Sydney 7’s and Hamilton 7’s in Australia and New Zealand respectively. Argentina had a strong campaign in Sydney, finishing in third position. They then dropped off in Hamilton, failing to reach the Cup stage.

In the USA Sevens in Las Vegas, Argentina will compete in Pool D. They are to do so against New Zealand, Scotland and Uruguay. It is a pool in which Los Pumas 7’s will feel capable of finishing in the top two.

The Uruguayan roster for the tournament can be seen by clicking here.

Argentina will open their campaign on Friday March 02 against Scotland, local time. Game two for the South Americans will be against New Zealand. On day two of the event, Los Pumas 7’s will be up against Uruguay in their remaining pool match.

Subsequent matches in the Las Vegas 7’s will depend on Argentina’s results from pool play.
