The USA hosted and defeated Chile in round three of the 2018 Americas Rugby Championship (ARC). The result kept the Eagles’ Grand Slam dreams alive. Never before has a team gone undefeated in the ARC. Remaining matches will see whether, or not, the USA can write history.
Against Chile the Eagles did not enjoy a strong start. Neither team was playing particularly good rugby in the opening half. In the second the home side were vastly improved and were able to secure themselves a comfortable victory.
Despite being beaten Chile was able to play at a higher level than had been the case in prior fixtures against the USA Eagles. Of particular note is that this was the case despite Los Cóndores having injury concerns and also missing players to foreign clubs.
