Super Rugby 2018 – Stormers vs Jaguares Match Highlights

Super Rugby is underway for 2018. The opening round saw just two matches being played, both were in South Africa on Saturday. Of the two the one of interest to the Americas was the Stormers vs Jaguares.

In 2016 and 2017 Los Jaguares were unable to perform to the level they had set for themselves. This resulted in changes with Mario Ledesma being brought home from Australia. A path to the play-off’s has been set as the goal of the team.

Early signs are that Ledesma has helped the team to play better rugby. The scrum was improved from that of 2017 in Super Rugby and also under Daniel Hourcade for Los Pumas.

Ledesma has also made an instant mark through his selections. Veterans in many positions were not selected to start today’s match. Regulars under Hourcade including Santiago González Iglesias, Juan Martín Hernández, Martín Landajo, Juan Manuel Leguizamón, and Leonardo Senatore did not start the match.

Some youh took their opportunities while others did not impress so much. For instance center Bautista Ezcurra was given an opportunity to start in the mid-field. In the first half the Stormers managed to score two tries by getting past him.
