The Guinness Pro 14 season continues this weekend. In what is to be week 15 of the Celtic-Italian-South African league there are to be seven matches taking place from Friday to Sunday. Involved are to be a number of players from the Americas. Below is a preview of those involved.
First up on Friday will be Connacht hosting Zebre in Galway, Ireland. The visitors from Italy have selected two Argentine players for the match. Eduardo Bello starts at Tight Head prop while Serafin Bordoli will cover Carlo Canna’s fly half position from the bench.
In Swansea, Wales the Ospreys play host to former Super Rugby franchise the Southern Kings. Back to fitness for the home side is Jeff Hassler. Having injured himself against Uruguay last month he is a welcome return for the Ospreys. Also involved is Hanno Dirksen. The former USA Eagles junior will feature from the bench.
On Saturday the Canadian born Luke McGrath will captain Leinster. He is to do so from scrum-half against the reigning Guinness Pro 14 champions, the Scarlets.
The Cardiff Blues host Munster in Saturday’s other fixture. Missing for the Cardiff Blues is Blaine Scully. He is on international duty for the USA Eagles in the Americas Rugby Championship.
On Sunday the Dragons host Benetton Treviso in Newport. They are to do so without many Italian players, due to the Six Nations. Out through injury is Canadian-Italian Robert Barbieri and Argentine mid-fielder Juan Ignacio Brex. Tomás Baravalle continues to play with regularity. He starts for Benetton Treviso at hooker.
