Imhoff Double Sinks Castres

A double from Juan Imhoff helped Racing 92 sink Castres on Saturday. The Top 14 victory was made possible thanks to Imhoff’s tries. They accounted for 100% of Racing 92’s tries in the match which was won 18-13.

Neither of the tries were textbook wingers scores. Instead the first was Imhoff provided support to get to the ball before Castres and dot it down. His second came from an attacking maul with the Puma coming off his wing to ground the ball.

With the win Racing 92 move into second position in the Top 14. They are tied with La Rochelle and just one point adrift of leaders Montpellier. The French league will now take a break for the start of the Six Nations Championship.

Imhoff has 29 caps for Argentina but has not played for his country since Rugby World Cup 2015. The reason for this is the country’s selection policy which blocks those playing in Europe from Pumas duty.

The 29-year-old Imhoff is one of many awaiting the decision from the incoming UAR regime. Following the upcoming elections there is to be a decision made as to the selection policy. There is popular interest to end the ban on European-based players. This will be clarified in March.
