Axel Müller scored his latest try of the season, doing so in West Ireland against Connacht on Saturday. The 2016 Argentine Olympian scored the opening try for Oyonnax in their final round fixture of the European Challenge Cup.
The visitors from France were no match for Connacht in Galway. The Western Irish province put on an impressive performance in running out 50-14 winners.
Müller’s try was the first of two tries by Oyonnax in the match. It was also the team’s opening points of the fixture. The score comes at a time in which Los Jaguares and the Argentina XV are preparing for upcoming international competition. The stocks of wingers has fallen from previous years.
The loss brings at end to Oyonnax’s 2017-2018 European Challenge Cup campaign. The Top 14 club finished bottom of Pool 5 with 1 win and 5 losses. The results will not concern the club as the focus is instead on avoiding relegation from the Top 14 to the Pro D2. Currently the club is bottom of the French domestic league and requiring a rapid turn-around.
