Viacaba Adds to Argentine Contingent in Italy

Santiago Viacaba has become the latest Argentine player to leave home to play rugby in Italy. The CUBA fly half has signed for second division side L’Aquila Rugby Club. The move sees the 22-year-old securing his first opportunity as a professional player.

Viacaba was the understudy to Juan Cruz González at CUBA. He regularly was used on the bench by the Buenos Aires club with Cruz González the usual starting fly half. He did, nonetheless have starts with the Argentina XV player moved to fullback.

In moving to Italy, Viacaba is the latest player to do so from Argentina this season. He follows hooker Tomás Baravalle and prop Eduardo Bello. Italy is also currently home to a number of Argentine fly halves. They include Serafin Bordoli, Juan León Novillo, Brian Ormson, and Joaquín Riera.
