The Seattle Seawolves have bolstered their front row stocks with the signing of former US Eagles prop Nick Wallace for the 2018 Major League Rugby season. A native of Bellingham, Washington, Wallace holds the unique distinction of having played for Canada at the u20 level – his mother is Canadian – before representing the USA at senior international level. The 28-year-old won the most recent of his 15 test caps against Tonga in the 2015 Pacific Nations Cup.
More recently Wallace was a solid contributor to the Denver Stampede, champions of the 2016 PRO Rugby season. Primarily a loosehead prop, he also provided cover at hooker for Zach Fenoglio while playing for Denver. His prior club career saw him turn out for Chuckanut Bay and Victoria, BC, club James Bay before attending Saint Mary’s College. Wallace scored a memorable try for the Eagles against Georgia in November 2013.
Seattle’s roster now features five well-regarded US-eligible props and Canadian international hooker Ray Barkwill. Wallace joins Louie Henson at loosehead prop with John Hayden and LaRome White covering tighthead. Current Eagles selection Olive Kilifi is comfortable on both sides of the scrum. The Seawolves open their regular season against San Diego on April 22.
