Guinness Pro 14 – Round 12 Preview

It’s another odd week in the Guinness Pro 14, with Round 12 spread across four days. Two games each will take place on Saturday, Sunday, and Monday, with the South African teams not due to make up the fixture until January 20.

Starting off the second leg of the derby fixtures on Saturday are Italian sides Benetton and Zebre. Treviso are on the road this time and will start in-form Italo-Canadian No 8 Robert Barbieri. On the other side Zebre have named a pair of Argentines in Eduardo Bello at tighthead prop and flyhalf Serafin Bordoli among the reserves.

Part 2 of the 1872 Cup will be contested at Scotstoun where Glasgow Warriors face Edinburgh, also on Saturday. US Eagles lock Greg Peterson makes just his third appearance of the season for Warriors, albeit on the bench. He has yet to start for Glasgow this season.

Sunday will feature the Welsh derbies on New Year’s Eve with the Blues welcoming Scarlets to Cardiff and Ospreys taking the trip to Newport to face the Dragons. There is no sign of Blaine Scully this week but Jeff Hassler is again on the wing for the Ospreys.

Monday’s New Years Day match-ups take place at the RDS and Kingspan Stadium respectively where Leinster face Connacht and Ulster take on Munster.
