Pro D2 – Week 16 Preview

The French Pro D2 stepped into the second half of the season on Thursday with an incredible 15 games of the regular season already on the books. Montauban remain slightly ahead but there are now three clubs within two points after Perpignan’s win at Bayonne on Thursday evening. It wasn’t a happy day for fullback Martín Bustos Moyano, or replacements Pablo Huete and Juan Pablo Orlandi.

Friday will have six games in all with Americas players in four of them. The most notable is the return of Christian Ostberg from injury. The big Texan makes his first appearance of the season and just his second career Pro D2 start, his first more than a year ago. Ostberg will start at lock for Aurillac on the road trip to Narbonne. He’ll see a couple familiar faces there with David Tameilau and Siaosi Mahoni both on RCNM’s books though neither are dressed for the match.

Agustín Costa Repetto continues his run in the Colomiers starting front row and countryman Sebastián Poet runs out once more at flyhalf for the match at Nevers. Horacio San Martín makes his sixth start of the season for the home side.

Three more Argentines will suit up on Friday. Lucas Martín Caneda is on the wing for Charente, and Carlos Muzzio a reserve prop on the opposite side for visiting Mont-de-Marsan. Damian Arias is at tighthead prop for Montauban at Vannes.

Dax and Biarritz play on Sunday. Teams have yet to be confirmed.
