The Brazilian Rugby Confederation (CBRu) has won the prestigious Sou do Esporte Award for a third consecutive year. More than 30 national Olympic sporting bodies are considered for the award, which is given by the independent Sou de Sports group to the management team that displays excellent in transparency, equity, accountability, integrity, and modernity.
The award ceremony took place last week during the third-annual Sou do Esporte Awards in Rio de Janeiro. The finalists in the Governance category of this edition were: CBAT (athletics), CBRu (rugby), CBV (volleyball), CBTM (table tennis), and CBVela (sailing).
Agustin Danza, CEO of the CBRU, accepted the award and expressed his delight.
“It is a great joy to continue leading in the area of Governance on the Brazilian sports scene, but we are also very happy for the whole movement that Sport Sou is doing – placing governance as one of the priorities among the confederations, government, press, and the public opinion.
“We will continue working to keep the CBRu at the top and thus also help other entities to improve their practices. Our mission is to put Brazilian rugby in the elite of the world and help in the transformation of Brazilian sport.”
The award is the only given in Latin America for Olympic confederations that have their governance attributes analyzed in a study produced by the organization and recognized by the Danish organization ‘Play the Game‘ which works to promote democracy, transparency and freedom of expression in sports.
