Ontario Arrows confirm Spring Schedule

Canada’s newest elite rugby team – the Ontario Arrows – has revealed a six-game schedule for the spring of 2018. The timing will allow some of Canada’s best domestic players much-needed exposure to high level fixtures at a time where there is normally a void in Canadian rugby ahead of the June test series. The Canadian Rugby Championship, Canada’s flagship domestic regional competition, takes place in August.

Two of the matches will be against Major League Rugby franchises, the Houston SaberCats and the Utah Warriors. The Arrows were part of the MLR owners meetings in Houston last month and are angling towards full inclusion in the new professional competition, with a final decision on the 2019 season to be made following the conclusion of the spring schedule.

American fans on the East Coast will be pleased to see matches, home and away, against Rugby Club New York and Boston. The former has already confirmed their entry in the 2019 MLR season with a similar exhibition schedule set for 2018. Boston is a new team backed by members of Mystic River, a Division 1 club that has competed in the American Rugby Premiership.

Dates and locations for the games against New York and Boston are yet to be confirmed. The Arrows will play the SaberCats at Constellation Field on Sugar Land, Texas, on March 3 with kickoff set for 7pm local time. A trip to Utah will see them play the Warriors at the newly-constructed Zions Bank Stadium in Herriman, part of the Salt Lake City metropolitan area. That match will begin at 3pm local. No details are available yet but it is hoped that all matches will be live streamed.

The Arrows have also launched their website, and social media platforms. Links to each are below.
