Argentina defeat Canada to earn Cup Final spot

Argentina have booked their spot in the Cup Final at the Cape Town Sevens after edging Canada 14-12 in a tense Semi Final. The Canadians held a 12-7 lead at the break thanks to a Pat Kay try created by Connor Braid and a second scored by Braid himself, with one reply from Santiago Álvarez. In the second half it was the speed of Rodrigo Etchart that made the difference, tearing around the outside for a score with Lautaro Bazán’s conversion from a tough angle securing the victory.

Canada will now face home favorites South Africa in the Bronze Final at 12:18pm Eastern time, while Argentina contest the Cup Final with New Zealand at 12:44pm Eastern.

Meanwhile the USA got back on track with a 29-12 win over France to earn a spot in the 5th place final against Fiji, kickoff set for 11:36am Eastern. Five different scorers crossed the line with France only able to muster one before adding a consolation score in stoppage time.

All matches will be streamed live by World Rugby. US audiences can watch on ESPN. Canadian viewers can see the live stream on CBC Sports.
