Utah Warriors set to play at Zions Bank Stadium

It appears the Utah Warriors have found their home field for the 2018 Major League Rugby season. The Salt Lake City side are set to play their home games at a new field, Zions Bank Stadium. Utah are currently filling out their preseason schedule with a match against the Ontario Arrows to be confirmed by the Canadian elite side on Saturday.

The stadium is part of a new multi-field training facility nearing completion in Herriman, located in the south-west of Salt Lake County. Major League Soccer side Real Salt Lake will be using the new complex for their daily training sessions and academy program. The facility also boasts an enormous 208,000 square foot field house complete with two turf fields for indoor training.

Real Salt Lake will not be using the stadium as their home pitch, however, as they currently play their home games at the 20,000 seat Rio Tinto Stadium. Zions Bank Stadium will have a capacity of 5,000 and be the home of the Real Monarchs, the United Soccer League affiliate of Real Salt Lake.

Current Major League Rugby Commissioner Dean Howes was previously CEO of Real Salt Lake and also vice-chairman, overseeing the construction of Rio Tinto which opened in October 2008.
