Pro D2 – Week 15 Preview

The first half of the French Pro D2 will come to a close this weekend. Week 15 sees Montauban at the top of the table but there are five clubs in the hunt for promotion with Grenoble and Mont-de-Marsan just behind the leaders.

Montauban picked up a dominant 43-20 win over Biarritz on Thursday evening with Argentine prop Damian Arias coming on as a second half replacement. Friday will see six games with Americas players featuring in three of them.

Argentinean fans will have four reasons to cheer at Stade Montois. Jerónimo Negrotto starts at tighthead for the home side with loosehead Carlos Muzzio among the reserves. Visitors Nevers have two former Pumas on their substitutes bench, second row Tomás Vallejos and midfielder Horacio San Martín.

Two more will feature for Bayonne. Martín Bustos Moyano runs out at fullback with Juan Pablo Orlandi providing tighthead cover on the bench. Chilean lock Pablo Huete will sit alongside Orlandi. Narbonne are the guests and will start USA Eagles international David Tameilau at his preferred No 8 spot.

Dax are on the road at Carcassonne with Uruguay’s Felipe Berchesi set to face his former club as he starts at flyhalf. Former Pumas flanker Martín Chiappesoni is also named in the run-on side.

Sunday’s match features Colomiers at Béziers with teams still to be named.
