Heavirland leads Eagles to Dubai

The USA will send an experienced team to participate in the 2017 Dubai Sevens. It’s the first stop on the new HSBC Sevens Series which takes on added importance with the Rugby World Cup Sevens set to take place at San Francisco’s AT&T Park in July.

After finishing 6th overall on last year’s circuit the USA has gone largely for consistency but there are two new caps in the team. San Diego’s Tia Blythe and Kiki Morgan, a former track athlete born in Jamaica, will make their debuts in Dubai.

2017 World Cup standouts Jordan Gray, Alev Kelter, Sara Parsons, and Naya Tapper are all included. Kelter will not be the captain, however, with Nicole Heavirland taking the leadership role instead. The 22-year-old from Montana is known for her aggressive hard-running style.

The Eagles have been draw in Pool A along with France, South Africa, and New Zealand.

All matches will be streamed live by World Rugby.
