Los Pumas are to return to play on the Gold Coast in 2018. The Australian Rugby Union has confirmed the venues for the Wallabies’ three home matches in next year’s Rugby Championship.
Australia will open against New Zealand in Sydney before hosting South Africa in Brisbane and Argentina on the Gold Coast. With it all three home matches are to be played on Australia’s eastern coast.
As has been the case in all Rugby Championship tournaments thus far Australia host New Zealand to open the competition. The August 18 encounter sees the Wallabies again facing the All Blacks at Sydney’s ANZ Stadium. The same venue was where Australia faced Argentina to open Rugby World Cup 2003.
The Wallabies will then face New Zealand away before returning to play home matches in rounds three and four. The Springboks are to be visitors to Brisbane’s Suncorp Stadium on September 08 while eight days later Los Pumas will play at the Cbus Super Stadium down the coast from Brisbane.
With the match being on the Gold Coast the Wallabies are to end four years of no matches in the city. The last time Australia played there was in 2014 in that year’s Rugby Championship, doing so against Argentina.
