Bosch Scores in Big Win for Agen

Facundo Bosch scored in what was a big win for Agen this past weekend. The former Jaguares hooker crossed for the first of three Agen tries in the team’s 29-13 home victory over Stade Français.

The importance of the result for Agen cannot be underestimated. It takes the club up to 14 competition points, thereby seeing them escape the relegation zone for the time being. After eleven rounds of the Top 14 Agen is in 12th position. 13th and 14th spots are occupied by Brive and Oyonnax who have 11 and 10 points respectively.

The three clubs are, realistically, battling it out to avoid relegation. This is the case despite there still being more than half of the regular season remaining. Stade Français’ defeat sees the club sitting in 11th position. The club is likely to rise higher, with the three others ultimately having far tougher seasons.

Facundo Bosch departed Los Jaguares at the start of 2017. He did so in search of greater game time. Opportunities for both Los Jaguares and Los Pumas were restricted while for Agen he has started regularly. It is an indication of the need for Argentina to have more than one professional team. Hanging on to players who are third choice or lower is simply too difficult.
