Hooper overtakes Cudmore’s yellow card record

Australian captain Michael Hooper was yellow carded on Saturday. As such he picked up the 8th of his test match career. This sees him overtaking Canadian Jamie Cudmore and two other players to being the most yellow carded player in test match rugby history.

Hooper was yellow carded in the first half against England. It was the 8th of his career which now includes 78 test caps. He made his debut against Scotland in the 2012 June Internationals. Cudmore received 7 yellow cards in a test career spanning 2002-2016. His final match was against Samoa in the 2016 November Internationals in Grenoble, France.

Cudmore earned a total of 43 caps. Curiously he was yellow carded in his final appearance against Samoa. Both Bryan Habana (South Africa) and Marco Bortolami (Italy) were also yellow carded 7 times in their test match careers. Habana earned 124 caps  from 2004-2016 while Bortolami was capped 112 times.
