RFU Championship – Round 9 Preview

Just as the Premiership is low on Americas resources, so too the Greene King IPA Championship. In fact only four players of Americas extract will take part over a full slate of six games.

Two of those were part of the Cornish Pirates side that fell short against London Scottish on Friday afternoon. On the wrong side of the 32-26 score was captain Nicolás de Battista while another Argentine Nicolás Coronel was among the replacements.

Meanwhile their countryman Gastón Cortes was making just his second start of the season for Bristol as they traveled to Headingley to plan Yorkshire Carnegie. It was a better result for the tighthead prop, whose team put their hosts to the sword with the final score reading Bristol 44, Carnegie 14.

The only other Americas player on show this weekend is US Eagles cap Ronnie McLean who lines up in his usual inside center spot when Richmond travel to Hartpury on Saturday.
