Tuculet Joins 50 Cap Club

On Saturday afternoon Joaquín Tuculet will become the 29th Puma to reach 50 caps. The fullback will do so against Italy in Florence.

In earning his 50th cap Tuculet will draw level with Mauricio Reggiardo. Of the remaining players with more caps than Tuculet six are still playing for Los Pumas.

The highest capped active player is Juan Manuel Leguizamón. He is now the 5th most capped Puma in history. In starting against Italy he is earning his 81st cap. Should he remain a Puma into 2018 then he will all but surely move above Mario Ledesma and could, potentially, become the most capped Puma in history.

Both Juan Martín Hernández and Martín Landajo join Leguizamón in the Top 10. Landajo will start against Italy and earn his 77th cap. Should he feature from the bench the Hernández will be capped for the 74th time.

Hugo Porta was the first Argentine player to reach 50 caps. Having made his debut against Chile in Montevideo on October 10 1971, he reached the milestone on September 17 1985. His 50th test came against Uruguay in Asunción, Paraguay. It took the legendary Porta a staggering 14 years to reach his half-century, while Joaquín Tuculet has reached it into his seventh year as a Puma.

The caps as indicated below include those from this coming Saturday’s fixture.
