Seawolves sign Belgian lock Jérémy Lenaerts

The Seattle Seawolves have added some international flavor to their roster with the signing of Belgian lock forward Jérémy Lenaerts. The announcement comes just days ahead of his 25th birthday. A standout with the San Francisco Rush during the 2016 PRO Rugby season, Lenaerts has represented his country at age-grade level but now appears to be headed towards Eagles representation for whom he will qualify on residency in less than a year’s time.

Lenaerts was previously part of the academy programs at both Toulon and Narbonne in France but opted to move state-side to attend Central Washington University in 2015. Most recently he was part of the Collegiate All-American side that played against Oxford in September. He is noted for his muscular 1.93m (6’4″) physique and strength in the contact area.

Seattle’s roster for the 2018 Major League Rugby season is slowly being unveiled with 10 players now on the books publicly. Among the most notable are four players set to take part in the November test series – Canadian trio Ray Barkwill, Phil Mack, and Brock Staller, and US Eagles prop Olive Kilifi.
