Tuculet Shortlisted by World Rugby for Try of the Year

Joaquín Tuculet’s try in San Juan has been shortlisted by World Rugby for the Try of the Year award. The Pumas fullback scored it in the second half in the opening match against England in the June Internationals.

The try is one of four nominated by World Rugby. Also in the running are Gela Aprasidze (Georgia), Sean O’Brien (British and Irish Lions) and Portia Woodman (New Zealand).

The four finalists have been chosen from across all categories. That is to say that Tuculet and O’Brien are from the senior men’s test rugby, Woodman from Women’s rugby and Aprasidze from men’s u20’s.

The four tries were selected by the IRPA Try of the Year panel of former players: Stefan Terblanche (South Africa) and Andries Pretorius (South Africa), Hale T-Pole (Tonga) and Isaac Boss (Ireland).

The winner is to be announced at the World Rugby Awards in Monte Carlo on 26 November. It is to be determined by voting on social media. The public vote can be made on World Rugby’s Twitter page (twitter.com/worldrugby) which fans are encouraged to visit to cast their vote.
