Guinness Pro 14 – Week 8 Preview

Week 8 of the Guinness Pro 14 Championship takes place this weekend. It sees a 3-4 split with games played on Friday and Saturday.

The first players from the Americas to feature will be Canadian-Italian Robert Barbieri and Argentine Juan Ignacio Brex. The Argentine mid-fielder will start for Benetton Treviso at inside center. He is to do against the 2017 champions, the Scarlets in Llanelli, Wales. The Italian capped Barbieri captains the side from No 8.

On Saturday the Southern Kings play host to Ulster in the day’s opening Pro 14 fixture. Featuring as a replacement for the Irish province will be Callum Black. The veteran Loose Head prop is uncapped and remains eligible to play for the USA.

Veteran Eagles flier Blaine Scully is to start for the Cardiff Blues. He will play on the left wing in his first match since signing a new contract with the Welsh region. The Blues play at home at Cardiff Arms Park against Zebre. Involved for the Italians will be prop Eduardo Bello and fly half Serafin Bordoli. The former was an Argentina XV regular this year while the latter is eligible for not only his native Argentina but also for Italy.
