A day after being named by World Rugby as the preferred RWC hosts South Africa has presented a list of RWC 2023 Stadiums.
In a video released on the SA Rugby youtube channel eight venues. They are to be in seven cities with Johannesburg set to host matches at both Ellis Park and Soccer City. All venues were FIFA 2010 World Cup venues in Bloemfontein, Cape Town, Durban, Johannesburg, Mbombela (Nelspruit), Port Elizabeth and Tshwane (Pretoria).
Of them Cape Town and Durban have been named as the host cities for the Quarter Finals. This will see a coastal west and east split. The Semi Finals and Final will be in Soccer City while Ellis Park is to host the Bronze Final.
These plans are subject to confirmation from World Rugby. Standing in the way is the official announcement of the 2023 hosts. World Rugby will make the decision on November 15. But with South Africa having won approval ahead of France and Ireland the prospects of missing out are close to nil.
