Uruguay is making final adjustments for Namibia and Canada. Los Teros are to play two November Internationals in Africa before taking-on Canada in the all-important Rugby World Cup Qualifiers.
Coming off a win over Rosario this past Saturday, the players are now back training at the Centro Charrúa. The 42-29 victory gave the Uruguayans confidence but it was also a warning of the need to play for the full 80 minutes. Low patches resulted in Uruguay conceding points, including gifting tries.
The coaching staff of Esteban Meneses, Guzmán Barreiro and Oscar Durán are currently determining their roster to travel to Namibia. Los Teros will fly from across the South Atlantic on Saturday November 11. They are to play test matches on Saturday November 18 and Saturday November 25 in Windhoek.
Following the tour the players will enter a quick post season. Time will be given to recover from what has been a year of record activity. The tour, though, is preparation for facing Canada in January and February. The January 27 match in Vancouver falls just over two months after the second match against Namibia.
With the winner of the home and away series seeing the Americas 2 spot at Rugby World Cup 2019 it is vital that Uruguay and Canada are well prepared. As the higher ranked of the two Uruguay hosts the return match in Montevideo on February 03.
