Aladdin Schirmer will be playing for the Seattle Seawolves in Major League Rugby. The team confirmed the signing on Tuesday evening. It’s a move that comes as no surprise with the loose forward a local who plays his club rugby for Seattle Saracens, previously lining up for Central Washington at collegiate level.
An agile and skillful player who is comfortable on the flank or at No 8, Schirmer won two caps for the Eagles during the 2016 Americas Rugby Championship and has been part of the Eagles Sevens program as well, appearing in two tournament during the 2014-15 HSBC Sevens Series. Most recently the 24-year-old was a standout performer for the USA Select XV at the Americas Pacific Challenge in Montevideo.
Schirmer is the third Saracens player to join the Seawolves officially following Olive Kilifi and Shalom Suniula. Other notable additions to the team include Canadian trio Ray Barkwill, Phil Mack, and George Barton. Former England Sevens star Mat Turner has signed as has Air Force powerhouse Eric Duechle.
