Ghislaine Landry nominated for World Rugby award

Canadian captain Ghislaine Landry has been nominated for the World Rugby Women’s Sevens Player of the Year award. The 29-year-old Toronto native is named alongside a pair of New Zealand standouts in Michaela Blyde and Ruby Tui. Monte Carlo will host the 2017 World Rugby Awards on November 26.

Landry capped another outstanding season with her 100th career try in Clermont-Ferrand. She was the leading points scorer on the circuit for the third consecutive season and is now well-positioned to become the first woman to reach the coveted 1000-point mark next season with 844 currently on her resume.

She also earned her second consecutive overall HSBC Sevens Series Dream Team selection in June alongside Canada teammate Britt Benn and USA captain Alev Kelter. Landry took home individual tournament honors in SydneyKitakyushuLangford, and Clermont-Ferrand.
