Juan Ignacio Brex Scores First Champions Cup Try

Juan Ignacio Brex went over for his first Champions Cup try. Playing outside center for Benetton Treviso the former Argentina XV back was a part of the 29-30 loss against former champions, Toulon.

The fixture was not expected to be overly competitive. The reputation and rosters of the two teams is such that Toulon went in to the match as heavy favorites. The French side defeated the reigning Pro 14 Champions the Scarlets in the opening round, setting up their match today in Italy.

Oddly enough today marked the first ever time that Toulon has faced an Italian side in Champions Cup history. Treviso’s round one performance was not so positive. The Italians fell 23-0 against English side Bath.

Toulon got the win today thanks to François Trinh-Duc. The reserve French test fly half landed six penalties, including a final minute strike to seal the one-point win. With Camille Lopez out of action for the remainder of the season, Trinh-Duc may well return to be France’s starting fly half.
