European Challenge Cup – Round 2 Preview

Round 2 of the European Challenge Cup is underway. The second-string club competition sees ten matches played between Thursday and Saturday. Involved are players from the Americas.

The round got underway with Gloucester thumping Agen. Both teams have players from the Americas though there was none involved in the fixture.

On Friday there are three matches. The first will be an all-French fixture with Brive hosting Oyonnax. Axel Müller is to again start for Oyonnax, doing so on the left wing.

Also in France Toulouse host the Cardiff Blues on Friday. Running-out on the left wing for the Welsh region will be Blaine Scully. The USA star also started in round one.

On Saturday there will be six matches, the first two of which will take place in Russia. Both Krasny Yar and Enisei STM have home games. Players from the Americas will feature later on in the day.

The one match on Saturday involving Americas players will be in Italy. Starting at Tight head prop for Zebre will be Eduardo Bello. Fellow Argentine player Serafin Bordoli will feature as the team’s cover for flyhalf. Zebre play host to Pau, a team expected to get the win on the road.
