Fans from Argentina, Canada, and the USA will be keeping a watchful eye on the second round of the British & Irish Cup this weekend. Eight players in all from across the Americas will take part with the majority of their influence coming on Sunday.
Two former US Eagles caps have been named by their respective teams to play on Saturday. Ronnie McLean returns to the Richmond midfield when they host Rotherham Titans at the Athletic Ground. Robbie Shaw will act as a reserve halfback for Hartpury at the impressive setting of Parc y Scarlets.
Shane O’Leary will make his first start for Ealing Trailfinders and it will be against his former club as they face Connacht Eagles at the Sportsground on Sunday. It’s welcome news for Canada fans ahead of the November test series though prop Djustice Sears-Duru is not named in the lineup.
More good news for Canada sees the return of Brett Beukeboom from injury. He will start in the second row for Cornish Pirates with two Argentines, winger Nicolás Coronel and centre Nicolás de Battista, named in the backline. The latter continues his role as captain.
Doncaster Knights will hand a much-needed start to second row Nick Civetta, who continues his loan from Newcastle Falcons. The Knights travel to Ashton Gate to face Bristol without Aaron Carpenter who is rested. Also rested is Canadian lock Kyle Baillie who won’t be in the London Scottish lineup at Stacks Field but USA prop Dino Waldren will continue in the run-on side to play Yorkshire Carnegie.
