2017 Rugby Americas North 7’s Pools

Rugby Americas North (RAN) has announced the pools for the upcoming regional 7’s tournament in Mexico City. The two-day event will take place on November 25-26. Taking part are to be ten men’s teams and seven women’s teams.

The ten competing teams in the men’s division are: Barbados, Bermuda, British Virgin Islands, Cayman Islands, Curaçao, Dominican Republic, Guyana, Jamaica, Mexico and Trinidad & Tobago.

The sevens women’s teams are to be: Bermuda, Dominican Republic, French Guyana, Guyana, Jamaica, Mexico and Trinidad & Tobago.

The format for the men’s division is to be round-robin. Seedings are based on positions from the 2016 competition. On day 1 the top two teams in each pool go through to play off in two further pools while the remaining four teams will play off in a separate round robin tournament as follows:

Final: Winner Pool 1 v Winner Pool 2
3rd / 4th Match: Runner up Pool 1 v Runner up Pool 2
5th / 6th Match: 3rd Pool 1 v 3rd Pool 2

Plate Round Robin Tournament:
3rd Pool A, 3rd Pool B, 3rd Pool C and 4th Pool C

The format will enable there to be 6 teams after day 1 who are still in contention to win the tournament and qualify for CASCO Games 2018.

In the women’s division the teams will also compete in a round-robin format. It is take place over two days with all teams playing against each other. They are to play three matches each per day. Final positions are to be based on the final standings in the group.
