Man of the Match for Facundo Isa as Toulon Down Scarlets

Facundo Isa put in an impressive European Champions Cup debut today. The Argentine No 8 was named man of the match for Toulon who downed the Scarlets 21-20 earlier today.

The Northern Argentine back-rower wore the 7 shirt for Toulon today. He partnered Juan Martín Fernández Lobbe to give Toulon two Argentine flankers. Isa’s European Champions Cup debut saw him gaining 90 meters from 15 carries and beating 4 defenders.

The 24-year-old Isa last played for Argentina in November 2016. He earned his 25th cap against England, scoring a try. Earlier in the year he also scored against both Australia and New Zealand.

Despite being a proven world class performer, Isa will not play for Argentina next month. UAR player policy declares that in order to play for Los Pumas one must play his rugby un Argentina. Exceptions are only allowed with permission.

Tomás Cubelli had permission in 2016 and 2017 to play for the Brumbies in Australia and remain eligible for Argentina. Last November Juan Pablo Estelles (Northampton) and Felipe Arregui (Edinburgh) had permission. These latter two instances are not to be replicated this year.
