Argentine center Juan Pablo Socino will not be able to play for the Newcastle Falcons for the next two weeks. The English club has European Challenge Cup matches against the Dragons (Wales) and Bordeaux-Begles (France). Socino will have to sit out these games.
Socino was cited by Peter Larter for striking the head of Exeter Chiefs’ player Ian Whitton with his arm on Saturday October 07. The act violates law 10.4(a). The incident occurred in the 41st minute first minute of the match.
Having been found guilty Socino was handed a two-week suspension. He will be free to play again on October 24.
The chairman of the panel Antony Davies declared:
“The panel found this was a reckless act in which the player made contact with the opposition player’s jaw with his forearm. In line with the new sanction table, this mandates a mid-range entry point . Thereafter the panel gave full credit for the player’s previous record, his good character (displayed both on-field in remaining with the injured player and at the hearing) and reduced the ban to two weeks.”
