Veterans Renegotiating Jaguares’ Contracts

Veteran players are renegotiations their Jaguares’ contracts. During today’s Press Conference some questions were answered concerning the make-up of the 2018 side.

The incoming Head Coach, Mario Ledesma stated that:

“I am very pleased with the group that is in place”.

Questions remain as to the final make-up of the roster though Ledesma is keen on retaining veteran players. Juan Manuel Leguizamón has signed a new contract for an additional year and negotiations are underway with Juan Martín Hernández.

Ledesma noted that:

“This is an exemplary level of a player and they are always going to serve me well. Hernández is the most talented player in the history of Argentine rugby.”

The 2018 roster is going to officially have 36 players. As in 2016-2017 there will be opportunities for others to be called-up from the Argentina XV or the domestic game as required.

In this regard Ledesma’s support staff of Martín Gaitán and Nicolás Fernández Miranda will serve the needs of all parties extremely well. The former has experience in being involved with Los Pumas and the Argentina XV while the latter is extremely well regarded for his services in coaching Hindú club.

Their combined expertise will enable opportunities for all players and put extra pressure on those already in the system to perform. It will aid Los Pumas by decreasing the rule used thus far in that Jaguares are Pumas with different colored shirts.
