Colombia Name Side to Face Peru

Colombia have named their side to face Peru. The teams face-off this afternoon in the opening match in the 2017 South American C Championship. With Sudamérica Rugby having announced restructuring this year’s tournament is to be the last before a fresh-look takes over in 2018.

The opening match of the South American B Championship takes place in Lima, Peru. The next fixture will also be in Lima with Peru hosting Venezuela on Saturday October 14. The competition concludes on October 21 in Guarne, Antioquia with Colombia hosting Venezuela.

Today’s match sees Sebastian Mejía leading an experienced team. The Antioquia No 8 will not be joined by regular Santiago Mejía today.

Players returning from facing Peru in 2016 include Andrés Arango, Gerson Ortiz, Sebastián Mejia, Emmanuel Bedoya, Camilo Cadavid and Andrés Alvarez. Cadavid starts at flanker today. One year ago he was playing on the wing.
