Venezuela Ready for South American B Championship

Venezuela is ready for the South American B Championship. Taking place this month, the 2017 edition is to be the final one before rebranding sees it replaced with the Sudamérica 6 Naciones A and 4 Naciones B and C tournaments.

The Federación Venezolana de Rugby (FVR) has confirmed a 23-man roster for the opening round fixture. Venezuela play away to Peru on Saturday October 14 in Lima. With Ecuador missing through suspension there are three rather than four competitors this year.

The coaching staff of Mario Urdaneta and Harry Ramos have selected 18 players from Venezulean clubs, 4 currently involved in the Uruguayan High Performance program and one who plays his rugby in Colombia. The roster begins training today.

Venezuela’s team will travel to Lima on October 12, returning home on the 15th. On the 18th they will cross the border into Colombia where they will face Los Tucanes in their second match. Following preparations in Santa Marta the team will travel to Medellín to face Colombia on Saturday October 21.
