Urdapilleta Stars as Castres Down Clermont

Benjamín Urdapilleta stated for Castres today. The Tarns completed a 29-23 home win over 2017 champions Clermont. The former Puma was at the forefront of Castres’ win, scoring 19 points.

Back to his best, Urdapilleta stood up today. The 31-year-old was calm and collected, winning the match for his club. Kicking for Clermont was Scotland captain Greig Laidlaw. Both players had tremendous matches from the tee.

Urdapilleta played today opposite Patricio Fernández. Both players are from Argentina and are former Pumas. With the UAR blocking the selection of players based in Europe from Los Pumas neither are under consideration. Urdapilleta earned 10 caps from 2007-2013. Both of Fernández’ caps came in 2013.

The result of today’s match sees Castres moving closer to Clermont. The teams are 10th and 9th respectively after 6 rounds of the season. Both are to play in away matches in round 7. Castres face the winless Brive on Saturday October 07 while Clermont face Toulouse on Sunday October 08.
