Uruguay Name Roster for Sudamérica Rugby Cup Final

Uruguay has named a 23-man roster for the Sudamérica Rugby Cup Final. Los Teros are to have home advantage against the Argentina on Friday. The teams meet at the historic city of Colonia del Sacramento in an evening match.

For Uruguay the fixture marks the beginning of the second phase of international competition in 2017. It will culminate with a two-match tour of Namibia in November. That tour is central to Los Teros’ preparations to face Canada in Rugby World Cup qualification in January and February.

This Friday’s fixture sees Los Teros playing a home match in a third city this year. Following prior matches in Montevideo and Punta del Este, Colonia del Sacramento now has an opportunity.

Kick-off for the fixture is scheduled for 7pm. Leading Brazilian official, Henrique Platais will be the referee. He is to be assisted by Francisco González and Santiago Romero.

New additions to Uruguay’s roster include Rodrigo Bocking (Old Christians) and Carlos Pombo (Old Boys). Bocking returns to the roster while Pombo does so having recently been added to the High Performance program at the Centro Charrúa.

The Argentina XV roster was named last week. Due to the fixture being the Argentina XV rather than Los Pumas test caps will not be awarded. As such points in the Americas Rankings will not be on the line.
