Facundo Isa Try Sees Toulon Win in Paris

A late try from Facundo Isa today saw Toulon winning away in Paris. The Mediterranean side traveled to the French capital and completed a 19-15 win. Were it not for Isa’s 78th minute score then Stade Français would have won the match.

Isa had an outstanding performance. His ball-carrying excellence was on display as he gained plenty of ground. In addition to bumping off three tacklers for his try, he also played a key role in his side’s first try. His off-load to Hugo Bonneval put Josua Tuisova in the clear.

The Northern Argentine No 8 played in Paris at flanker. He formed an All-Americas back-row trio with retired Puma Juan Martín Fernández Lobbe and Eagle Samu Manoa.

With the win Toulon move up the standings into 6th position. Stade Français remain in trouble, occupying 13th spot. Both sides will play next on Saturday September 30. Stade Français face Pau away while Toulon are at home against La Rochelle.

For supporters of Argentina the performance of Isa is bitter-sweet. The national selection policy blocks those playing in Europe from playing for Los Pumas. In 2016 Isa was the Argentine National Player of the Year award winner.

In his absence Argentina has been able to settle on a starting No 8. In the first four rounds of the ongoing Rugby Championship a different player started every match. Leonardo Senatore, Juan Manuel Leguizamón, Benjamín Macome and Tomás Lezana have each had one start.

Argentina face New Zealand in Buenos Aires on Saturday September 30. All tickets for the fixture have been sold.
