Argentina XV trim squad for Uruguay match

A powerful match day 23 has been named to face Uruguay on September 29 to contest the Sudamérica Rugby Cup. Included are four players who appeared for the Jaguares during the Super Rugby season – second row Juan Cruz Guillemaín, flyhalf Joaquín Díaz Bonilla, and the Ezcurra brothers, scrumhalf Felipe and utility back Bautista.

The latter trio hail from National Club champions Hindú, who also contribute flanker Lautaro Bavaro and scrumhalf or wing Sebastián Cancelliere. Finalists Tala are represented by loosehead prop Franco Brarda and a pair of wingers, Franco Cuaranta and Germán Schulz.

Two players who were not part of the original squad of 29 named have been added. Inside back Tomás Granella and No 8 Santiago Portillo join the group having already appeared for the Argentina XV during the Americas Rugby Championship earlier this year.

This will be the last match for the Argentina XV before the Americas Pacific Challenge which is to be their final commitment of the year. The group will again be expanded to 28 for that three-match tournament that will take place in Montevideo starting on October 7.
