Pro D2 – Week 6 Preview

Grenoble scored a big win over Bayonne at the Stade Jean Dauger on Thursday evening to kick off the 6th week of action in the French Pro D2. Road wins are difficult to come by in French rugby, and one over their fellow Top 14 exports is a particularly big result. Grenoble did not have any Americas players in their lineup but the struggling home side did. Martín Bustos Moyano was captain and fullback once again while Chile’s Pablo Huete was at lock and former Pumas tighthead prop Juan Pablo Orlandi a second half replacement.

The bulk of the matches are played on Friday evenings with six lined up once again. Lucas Martín Caneda will be on the wing for Charente when Aurillac arrive at Stade Chanzy. Carlos Muzzio starts at loosehead prop for Mont-de-Marsan against nearby Montauban. Dax have Felipe Berchesi on the bench after a four week absence when they host Tomás Vallejos and Nevers.

Massy are home to Colomiers, who can reclaim top spot on the log with a win. Agustín Costa Repetto is at hooker with Sebastián Poet the goal-kicking flyhalf. Narbonne have named David Tameilau among the reserves with Demian Panizzo his opposite on the Carcassonne bench. Meanwhile Eric Fry continues to start for Vannes and could face off against Leandro Assi in the scrum if the Eagles loosehead puts in another 70-minute shift against Biarritz.
