There are now two Canadian internationals at Vallis Way as Ealing Trailfinders have confirmed the signing of flyhalf Shane O’Leary. The 23-year-old joins the Greene King IPA Championship club after making his test debut for Canada in June following his departure from Connacht. O’Leary will find a familiar face in Djustice Sears-Duru at the club as well as US Eagles flanker Andrew Durutalo.
It’s good news for both O’Leary and Canada. After struggling to find game time at Connacht due to injury and heavy competition at his position he should be a regular for the Trailfinders. Ealing currently have Aaron Penberthy and former England Saxons select Rory Clegg on their roster but O’Leary should find himself on the pitch sooner than later.
Ealing are currently on top of the RFU Championship table having claimed bonus point victories in all three of their matches to date and sit one point above favorites Bristol. They will meet London Scottish, who have North American duo Kyle Baillie and Dino Waldren on their roster, before facing the heavyweights at Ashton Gate on October 1 in a highly anticipated contest.
