Pumas Name Roster for Oktoberfest 7’s

Santiago Gómez Cora has named the Pumas roster for the Oktoberfest 7’s. The Argentine national men’s 7’s side will travel to Munich, Germany next Monday to compete in the two-day event.

Los Pumas 7’s will play in Pool B of the Oktoberfest 7’s, facing England, Germany and Uganda in the group stage. Chile is the other side involved from the Americas. The German event will be played on September 29-30.

The Argentine roster have had three training camps thus far for the upcoming season. The camps which took place at Hindú Club in the Don Torcuato district of Buenos Aires focused on physical and technical aspects in addition to defense.

Among those returning to the roster is San Isidro Club (SIC) flier, Rodrigo Etchart. He had been sidelined for a number of months , recovering from ligament damage to his knee. A successful return for SIC has seen him playing a key role in the URBA Top 12.

Etchart joins fellow Los Pumas 7’s veterans Renzo Barbier, Fernando Luna and Franco Sábato in the squad. There is also room for new blood, notably Luciano González who was one of the best Pumitas in 2017 competition.

The Oktoberfest 7’s will be played in her Munich Olympic Stadium. The venue has a seating capactity for 69,000 spectators. The competing countries are to be Argentina, Australia, Chile, England, Fiji, France, Germany, Ireland, Portugal, South Africa, Spain and Uganda.
