Guemes Joins Barcelona

FC Barcelona Rugby have acquired the services of an Argentine fly half. The uncapped Bautista Guemes has joined the Spanish club, making his debut this past weekend in the División de Honor.

Aged 27, Guemes is now playing his rugby in Spain. The move comes after he previously played for French club Agen, a side now competing in the Top 14.

Prior to leaving for Europe the talented play-maker had been on the fringes for international duty for a number of years. Guemes was a well-respected player for CUBA in the URBA Top 12, Buenos Aires’ league.

Guemes made his debut in the División de Honor against heavyweights VRAC Quesos Entrepinares. The match was won 35-18 by the Valladolid club.

The former CUBA fly half not only made his debut but also scored his first points playing in the Spanish league. He kicked 4 penalties and 1 drop goal for Barcelona. Also among the scorers was former Argentina XV winger, Tomás Carrió. He landed two conversions and a penalty for VRAC.
