New Faces on Argentina XV Roster

A 29-man Argentina XV roster has been named. Included are new faces in what is a competitive squad for upcoming international activities. The roster will train from Monday to Wednesday.

From the group which faced Toulon, the most recent fixtures for the Argentina XV, Sebastián Cancelliere, Juan Cappiello, Bruno Devoto,  Juan Cruz Guillemaín, Santiago Montagner, Ignacio Larrague, Axel Zapata and Jerónimo Ureta all return.

Joining them are new faces, notably Super Rugby player Bautista Ezcurra. Additional call-ups have been made for Gonzalo Mendoza (Jockey Salta), Manuel Nogués (Atlético del Rosario) and Nicolás Cantarutti (Tala). The trio all receive their first opportunity to play for Argentina’s ‘A’ side.

The roster named is highly competitive. Included are fringe players for both Los Jaguares and Los Pumas. A number of those named have genuine opportunities to be selected for Argentina’s November Internationals against England, Italy and Ireland.

Following the training camp the roster will come together again at the end of the month. They are to travel to Uruguay, where they will play against Los Teros on September 29 in Colonia del Sacramento. It is to be the Sudamérica Rugby Cup Final and follows the Argentina XV’s 31-15 win over Chile in June.

Following the match against Uruguay, the Argentina XV will play in their final signalment of the year. They are to compete in the second annual Americas Pacific Rugby Challenge. The developmental competition will be played at the Estadio Charrúa in Montevideo. Also competing will be the Uruguay XV, USA Selects, Tonga ‘A’, Samoa ‘A’ and Canadá ‘A’.
