Aviva Premiership – Week 2 Preview

Week 2 of the Aviva Premiership season takes place this weekend. The twelve leading English clubs will all take to the field, looking to obtain vital early season competition points.

Opening Week 2 will be the Northern clash of the Sale Sharks vs Newcastle Falcons. It is to be the only Friday fixture of the round. Both the USA and Argentina are to be represented in the match. AJ MacGinty will start at fly half for the home side while Belisario Agulla will play wing for the Falcons. Featuring as Newcastle replacements are Santiago Socino and his brother Juan Pablo Socino. They cover hooker and center respectively.

The opening Saturday fixture will be in the West Country. Bath welcome Saracens who take with them three players from the Americas. Starting on the left wing will be former USA captain Chris Wyles. Named as a replacement prop is Juan Figallo.

Reigning champions the Exeter Chiefs host last year’s Greene King IPA Championship winners, London Irish. Starting for the visitors in the midfield will be Ciaran Hearn. The 31-year-old has an impressive 57 caps for his native Canada.

In London the Harlequins will be looking for a vastly improved performance than in Week 1. They host Gloucester, a side to have impressed. St. Lucia flyer Marland Yarde will play on the right wing for the London side. The Caribbean native is capped by England.

Week 2 will close on Sunday. The final fixture of the round sees the Worcester Warriors hosting their northern neighbors, the Wasps. USA hooker Joe Taufete’e will feature for the home side from the bench.
