Durutalo shines in Ealing debut

US Eagles flanker Andrew Durutalo had a dream day in his competitive debut for Ealing Trailfinders as they just held off a second-half comeback from Cornish Pirates to come away with a 29-28 victory at Vallis Way. Two tries, one in each half, and an outstanding overall contribution saw the former USA Sevens star claim Man of the Match honors in what was also his first European professional club match.

Durutalo was often used as a strike runner by Trailfinders with his first try coming straight from a flat pass after an off-the-top lineout ball. Rather than merely setting up front foot phase ball he blasted clean through the middle and raced away for a superb individual effort. His second came early in the second half, diving in under the posts from close range. It proved a decisive score, securing the bonus point and making it a routine conversion.

Also making his Greene King IPA Championship debut for Ealing was Djustice Sears-Duru. The Canadian prop was a second-half replacement for Will Davis at loosehead.
