Facundo Bosch scored on his Top 14 debut on Saturday. The Argentine hooker went over for Agen’s first try in their opening round match away to Montpellier. With the conversion Agen trailed Montpellier 17-7 at the time.
The powerhouse Montpellier went on to win the match 48-19. In doing so, Montpellier left a warning for all to take note of. The club has been competitive for a number of years now but is yet to secure a Top 14 title. Recruiting for the new season sees the roster being even stronger than last season.
Bosch’s move to Agen came at the start of the year. He joined the French club from Los Jaguares. In doing so he was immediately released from his contract with the UAR. This had the add-on impact of preventing him from being considered for not only Super Rugby but also international duty.
Upon joining Agen he was Argentina’s third choice hooker. This caused complications for the Super Rugby campaign with Loose Head prop, Roberto Tejerizo converting to hooker. Currently only captain Agustín Creevy and Julián Montoya are specialist hookers on the test roster for the ongoing Rugby Championship.
